On July 18, the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, showcased the CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal, aimed at assisting approximately 10 crore depositors of Sahara Group cooperative societies in reclaiming their funds. With a focus on streamlining the process, the online portal allows genuine eligible depositors of Sahara Societies to log in and submit their claims by completing an online application form and uploading the necessary documents.

How to Register on the CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal?
To register on the CRCS-Sahara Refund Portal, depositors need to follow two simple steps.
Step 1 involves Depositor Registration, where individuals must visit the portal's homepage and click on "Depositor Registration." After providing accurate details like the last four digits of their Aadhaar card and the mobile number linked to Aadhaar, they will receive an OTP for verification. Upon entering the OTP, the mandatory registration process will be completed.
Step 2, Depositor Login, follows a similar process with the last four digits of Aadhaar and the mobile number linked to Aadhaar for verification.
Details Required for Claim Request
When submitting the claim request form/application, depositors must provide crucial details, including membership number, deposit account number, Aadhaar-linked mobile number (mandatory), deposit certificates/passbook, and, if the claim amount is Rs. 50,000 and above, their PAN card (mandatory). In the absence of a PAN card, individuals will not be able to proceed with their claim.

Mandatory Aadhaar-Linked Mobile Number and Bank Account
The portal emphasises the importance of having an Aadhaar-linked mobile number and a bank account. Without these prerequisites, depositors cannot file a claim request. For those needing to link their Aadhaar with their mobile number, a visit to the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra is necessary.
Aadhaar-Seeded Bank Account
Similarly, depositors must possess an Aadhaar-linked bank account, as this enables secure fund transfer directly to the depositor's bank account.
Documents to be Attached with the Claim
When submitting a claim, depositors must attach essential documents, including deposit certificates/passbooks, the claim request form, and, if applicable, their PAN card for claim amounts exceeding Rs. 50,000.
Successful Claim Submission
Upon successful claim submission, depositors will receive an acknowledgment number visible on the portal, and a confirmation SMS will be sent to their registered mobile number.
Refund Process
Regarding the refund process, eligible depositors can expect the claimed amount to be directly credited to their Aadhaar-linked bank account after a waiting period of 45 days from the date of successful claim submission.
