Thankfully, the process to change your address is quite simple and takes no more than a few minutes in most cases. Here’s how to change your address on the following key documents:

Bank account 

You can usually change your address on your savings bank account through netbanking or by calling customer care. The agent will ask you a few verification questions to confirm your identity and update your address. However, if you have an account with a public sector bank, you may need to visit the branch and submit a written request for change of address. Some banks may ask you to fill out a form and attach proof. It may take 7-14 days to complete the process. The process to change the address on your demat and trading account is almost the same. Insurance policy

Almost all insurance companies allow you to change your address on their respective websites. However, you may need to send a written request quoting your policy number in some cases. It may take anywhere from 15 to 45 days for your address to be updated, depending on the exact process followed by the insurance company.

Provident fund

Fill out a form for a change of address at your local post office/bank to transfer your PPF account to the city you will be moving to. Once the request is processed, a cheque or demand draft will be issued to facilitate the transfer. This will be sent to the post office nearest your address in the new city, and a new account will be opened in your name.

Mutual funds
